William E. Gilbert

William E. Gilbert, 82, of Tavares, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012. Born in Colquitt, Georgia, he moved to Tavares in 1990 from Zellwood, Florida. He worked part-time for Lake County Schools and previously owned his own foliage nursery, spending over 50 years in the horticulture business. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, Leesburg. William served in the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Grace B. Gilbert, Tavares, FL; son, William Kevin Gilbert, Zellwood, FL; 2 daughters, Shirley Brown Wicker, Mount Dora, FL, Patricia Hunt, Hendersonville, NC; 2 brothers, J. T. Gilbert, Meridian, MS, Edgar Gilbert, Blakely, GA; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 7:00 PM. Interment will be at the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Colquitt, GA on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway Baptist Church Building Fund, 32707 Blossom Lane, Leesburg, FL 34788.
