William E. Back, Sr., 83, of Tavares, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Born in Middletown, Ohio, he moved to Lake County in 1978 from Bradenton, FL. He retired as owner and operator of the B&B Saw and Tool Supply in Deland, FL; he was also former Chief of Security for the DeSoto Square Mall in Bradenton, FL and as a Fire Ranger with the Florida Forestry Service. Mr. Back was a US. Army Veteran serving in Korea where he earned a purple heart and Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Back was a member of the Community Chapel Church of Mount Dora, also a member of the Church of God in Maynardville, TN, a life member of the D.A.V., life member of the American Legion, and was a member of the V.F.W. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Back of Tavares, FL; son, William E. (Diane) Back, Jr. of Tavares, FL; 3 grandchildren, Chris Pruitt of Summerville, SC, Robert John (Victoria) Pruitt of Tavares, FL, Heather Leigh Pruitt of Mascotte, FL; great-grandson, Robert Wyatt Pruitt. 2 sisters-in-law, Edith Back and Opal Back both of Ohio. He is predeceased by 4 brothers, and 1 sister. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 7:00 PM. Military Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital.
