Rev. Walter Baker Peterson (Affectionately known as Father Pete) age 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 10th at his home in Etowah, Tavares, Florida.He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 28, 1932. He graduated from Landon High School, Jacksonville in 1950. He attended Jacksonville University. He graduated of the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1954 with a Bachelor's in History and graduated from the University of South Sewanee, School of Theology, Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1957 with a Master of Divinity. He was Rector at St. Agatha’s Episcopal Church, Defuniak Springs, Florida, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Deland, Florida, St. Edwards Episcopal Church, Mt. Dora, Florida and was Founder and Former Rector of St. Andrews Antiochian Orthodox Church, Eustis, Florida. He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Maitland, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Kennedy Nielsen; father, Charles Albert Peterson and brother, Albert L. Peterson. Survived by his loving sister, Catharine Walker Peck of Odessa, FL; niece, Gwenette Peck Clark (Wilbur) and family of Tampa, FL; nephew, Richard K. Peck, III (Pam) and family of Odessa, FL; and Terrance Peterson, Tavares, FL. He is alos survived by many wonderful friends whose lives have been enriched by this wonderful man. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Maitland, FL. Visitation and Trisagion will be from 9am until time of service. Burial will be at 11:30 am at Pine Forest Cemetery, Mt. Dora, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, Florida 32751 in memory of Walter B. Peterson.
