Vera Thorsen led a life of faith, fun, being frugal and possessed a pleasant, feisty demeanor. Our Lord received Vera on December 13, 2015 at 96 years of age. Vera’s final years were spent in Mount Dora, Florida in assisted care at Waterman Village - Bridgewater. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 11, 1919 to John and Ann Hnath. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Ann Razwick, Irene Shea, Elsie Hnath and her husband of 44 years Del W. Thorsen who died in 1983. She is survived by her son James D. Thorsen and wife Nicole Thorsen of Eustis, Florida, Also, two brothers George Hnath in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Robert Hnath in Stockton, California and one sister Margaret Hayney in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Vera will be cremated and interred next to her husband at the Calvary Episcopal Church Cemetery in Fletcher, North Carolina outside Asheville, North Carolina. Vera graduated from Edison High School in Northeast Minneapolis. Her husband, Del, was employed by the U.S. Forest Service and traveled to work in many National Forests. Del and Vera were married on October 25, 1939. Vera and Del lived throughout the southeast United States in a variety of States. Vera worked selling war bonds and worked for three dentists. Being a homemaker was Vera’s main occupation throughout the years. After Del’s retirement, Vera resided in Asheville, North Carolina. Upon Del’s death, Vera moved back to Minneapolis before moving to Mount Dora in 2001. Vera wanted to express these words from an unknown Author: “I thank you for the love you each have shown, but it’s time I travel alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart.
