Terrell Cleveland Patterson

July 14, 1942 — November 14, 2017

Terrell Cleveland Patterson age 75 left this world November 14, 2017. He was the oldest of 14 siblings. He spent most of his childhood helping his mama and sisters take care of the children. They had their hardships, but it brought them closer. He delivered telegrams on a bicycle during high school in Miami. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force. He hitchhiked across the country during his time in the military. He traveled in a van all over the country with his then wife Valerie Davis. He was in the Sheet Metal Workers Union for over 40 years. He rode his life in ways many others envied - he did things his way. He loved his solitude but would talk up a storm on his phone. He always had an opinion and told it - slowly. He reminded us weekly - it was hump day. He saved paper, comics, stories - to share with those he loved. His friends and family were relentless with their love, worry and support - sometimes to no avail. Getting to know his son - was a late life gift he couldn't be prouder of. He said he lived longer than he thought he ever would - He was grateful and thankful. He watched his "girls" grow, develop lives and endure many of their own heartaches. He loved them beyond any measurement possible. He offered them sage advice repeatedly and slowly. He is free now. He is breathing freely, walking freely, talking faster and having a beautiful smile! He was an unconditional loving father, a devoted brother, a special uncle to all his nieces and nephews, a beloved grandfather, a proud veteran, and the best friend a person could have. If you knew him you loved him, his love for the simple things in life like time with loved ones give you a different perspective about what is important. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and there is a void that will be forever in our hearts. He is preceded into heaven by his mother Daisy Mae, his father Paul Patterson senior, brothers Steve Patterson and Joey Pointer, and sister Gloria Jarrells. He is survived by daughters Vanessa Granger and Naomi Wallace; grandchildren Garrett, Aubrey and Brooklyn. His son Shawn Cox and granddaughter Courtney Cox. Brothers Lamar Patterson, Paul Patterson Jr., David Patterson, and Billy Pointer; sisters Shirley Hall, Donna Shepherd, Patsy Callahan, Paula Howsare, Patti Ann Oset, Peggy Patterson, Tammy Ingham, and Debbie Grimes. Loved and loved by too many nieces and nephews to name......and best friends all over the county!! Celebration of life will be held at McGregor’s 500 N. Highland St. Mount Dora FL, 32757 on December 9th from 12:00pm- 4:00 pm.
