Susan Gail Odom Jaques, 68, died December 12, 2021, in Leesburg, Florida, following an extended illness. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg, South Carolina. A family-only viewing will be held at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home Monday at 4 p.m. Susan was born March 1, 1953, in Miami to Murray and Carolyn Odom. After graduating from college, she spent many years as a registered nurse in South Florida. She married Richard Marvin Jaques in 1983. In the late 1990s, the couple relocated to Central Florida, living for many years in Mount Dora until she and Richard built a home in Grand Island. They raised Siamese cats and exotic birds, and her natural artistry for plants, baking, and other creative pursuits was much appreciated. Susan is survived by her brother, Garland (Wanda) Odom, of Pinson, Alabama; sister Linda Cope of Edgewater, Florida; stepdaughter Jessica (Matthew) Brodie of Lexington, South Carolina; and grandchildren Cameron and Avery Connor and Allison and William Brodie, of Lexington, South Carolina. Two nephews and four nieces also survive her: Clint Odom of Chicago, Illinois; Richard (Luanne) Odom of McKinney, Texas; Wendy (Steve) Gammon of Hollywood, Florida; Kristen (Robin) Perlman of Edgewater, Florida; Deanna (Norman) Krack of Kimberly, Alabama; and Allison (Daniel) Rice of Kimberly, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marvin Jaques; her son, Scotty; her brother, Charles Thomas Odom; and her parents, Murray Odom and Carolyn Johnson Odom.Online Guestbook available at
