Dr. Hoyt “Skip” Haymans III, 61, of Eustis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Skip devoted his life as a follower of Jesus Christ, loving his family, and serving God’s church. His legacy will live on in the hearts of the countless lives he touched. He was known for his contagious smile and compassion for people. Skip was born in Gainesville, Florida where he graduated from P.K. Yonge High School in 1970, The University of Florida in 1974, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1976 and Luther Rice Seminary in 1983. Skip was a Youth Minister at Northwest Baptist Church of Gainesville from 1976 - 1978, Youth and Education Minister at Killarney Baptist Church of Winter Park from 1978 – 1984. Skip has faithfully served as the Executive Pastor at First Baptist Church of Eustis for the past 30 years (1984-2014). Although our hearts will never be the same, the story of his life will continue through his influence to challenge others to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is survived by his loving Wife, Linda S. Haymans of Eustis, FL; Daughter, Lauren (Daniel) Norris of Eustis, FL; Son, Jameson Todd (Hannah) Haymans of Winter Park, FL; Sister, Linda (Ken) Williams of Worthington Springs, FL; Grandsons, Brock and Colton Norris of Eustis, FL; Mother-in-law, Barbara Sinquefield of Eustis, FL; Nephews, Lance and Philip Williams; and numerous relatives and loved ones. A Homegoing Celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Eustis on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 3:00 PM.
