Roy Cade Carter, Sr. 88, of Eustis, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Born in Hartsville, South Carolina, he moved to Eustis in 1955 from Tampa, FL. to represent Knight & Wall Hardware Company selling hardware wholesale. He was the founding father of Carter’s Ace Hardware. In 1964 he purchased Tavares Hardware with his partner Ken Reutebuch. In 1978 he purchased Umatilla Hardware with partners James and Hazel Stoneking. His third store, Bronson Ace Hardware, Eustis, was purchased in 1989. He was a faithful member who served in many lay leadership positions of the First United Methodist Church in Eustis. He was also a member of Eustis Kiwanis and a lifetime member of Elks. Roy served in the US Air force during the Korean War and was stationed in North Africa. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Deloris Carter of Eustis, FL; son, Roy Cade Carter Jr. (Colleen) of Eustis, FL; daughter Dee Ann Wilson (Chuck) of Umatilla, FL; 5 grandchildren; April-Ann Malleck (Andrew); Lindsey Matulia (Matt); Roy Cade Carter III (Madeline), Brittany Britton (Jay), Zachary Carter; 6 great-grandchildren along with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way; Hayden Creech, Emma Matulia, Olivia Matulia, Isabella Carter, Clara Matulia, and Bryce Malleck. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Eustis on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM.
