Ronald C. Harrison

Harrison, Ronald C., Captain USMC Ret. 75, of Eustis passed away on March 25, 2010 after a short illness. Born in Astatula , Florida on Oct. 14, 1934. He grew up with his family in the citrus industry Harrison Grove Service and attended and graduated from Tavares High. For many years Bill and Jenny Harris his parents lived in Astatula. He then joined the United States Marine Corp which he served for 20 years. During his service with the corp he was chosen for the color guard duty to guard the famous Iwo Jima flag while it was on display in Miami during the Fifth Marine Division Convention in 1956. He served in Korea and Vietnam and traveled around the world always eager to share with his children the culture and food from other countries. Both of his sons and his grandson followed his steps and served in the Marine Corp. After he retired from the Marine Corp he went to work for Sprint and earned his AA degree in Business at LSCC. He retired from Sprint and became a farmer. Always sharing his time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a man of many talents; gourmet cook, handyman and rancher. He was a member of the B.P.O.E., Eustis Lodge No. 1578. He was married to Jean (Matthews) Harrison for 49’s years until she passed away Dec. 11, 2005. He was blessed to have a second love his fiancé Lousie Trocino. Ron had 5 children and I stepdaughter. William Matthew Harrison of Eustis ,David Ronald Harrison of Umatilla, Jo Ann Simons Mt. Dora, Cindy Harrison Williams of Umatilla, Jill Kathleen Limes of Winter Park, Linda Trocino Mt. Dora .. He is also survived by his brother Douglas Harrison of Astatula. 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. We will dearly miss old blue eyes an officer and a gentle man. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Hospital Waterman Foundation for Cancer Care/Ron Harrison.
