Roberto Fernandez, 91, of the Bronx in NYC, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 in Mount Dora, FL. Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, he moved to Mount Dora in March 2020 from New York. He was a Teacher and Assistant Principal with the New York Board of Education. He taught in Primary Grade School and Junior High. He also taught Braille and Sign Language. Roberto was a Veteran serving in both the U.S. Marine Corps and in the Army National Guard. He was a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America and was a Deacon with the Holy Cross Church and St. Raymond’s Church in Bronx, NY. Roberto enjoyed playing the Violin, Mandolin, Organ and Piano. He is survived by his 2 Sons, Roberto Fernandez II of Yonkers, NY and Israel Fernandez of Bronx, NY; 2 Daughters, Yolanda M. Rosa of Eustis, FL, Anita L. Torres of Mount Dora, FL, their younger sister, Axneiz Vega, 4 Grandchildren; Serena, Bobby, Angel & Bella, 3 Great-Grandchildren, Violet, Rylie & Harlee; and by many extended family and friends.
