Robert Duane Yordy

Robert Duane Yordy, 80, passed away September 21, 2011 in Grand Island, Florida. Bob was born August 16, 1921 in Flanagan, IL to Vernon and Lucile Yordy. He lived most of his life in Flanagan, IL. He served a brief stint in the Merchant Marines followed by a tour of duty in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He moved on to the F.S. Farm services. Later he went to work at Cargill where he retired in 1996. He moved to Florida to escape snow and enjoy his days fishing. Mr. Yordy was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn and his father, Vernon. He is survived by his mother, Lucile Yordy (Eureka ,IL) ; his son Michael and his wife Kathy (Muscle Shoals ,AL) and their three children Brook, Luke And John ; his daughter Michelle Birt and her husband Phil (Florence, AL) and their two children Adam and Alyssa; his sister Gladys (Fred) Mengarelli (Indio ,CA) ; his brother Leland “Red” (Carol) Yordy (Flanagan, IL) ; and his sister Beverly (Jack) Henderson ( Peoria Heights , IL); and special friend Cathy Collins (Grand Island, FL). Robert will be cremated per his wishes and a graveside service will be held at Waldo Cemetery in Flanagan, IL. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, the American Legion Post 456 in Flanagan, IL or the VFW Post 8087 in Eustis, Florida. Arrangements by Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis.
