Robert "Bob" Oliver Pickens

Robert "Bob" Oliver Pickens, 88, of Eustis, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Born in Akron, Ohio, Bob served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater of operations. In 1957, Dorothy, Bob and family moved from Homeworth, OH to Eustis, FL. He started to work for Waterman Memorial Hospital in downtown Eustis in 1960 and worked in the maintenance department for over 40 years, finally retiring in 2002. Bob was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eustis, serving many years as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder & Usher. Bob and his wife, Dorothy Mae (Knoll) Pickens were married for over 66 years. That marriage produced 3 fine daughters, Christine Ann (Pickens) Bailes, married to David Bailes, Janine Gail (Pickens) Lester, married to Mike Lester, and Shelby Lea (Pickens) Gracey, married to Rev. Bill Gracey. Bob & Dorothy have 6 grandchildren, Bobby Bailes and Julie Bailes, Julie (Gracey-Brezillac) Hammond, married to Peter Hammond, Andrew Gracey, Ryan Gracey, and Sarajane Gracey; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kylene Brezillac and Gabe Brezillac. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 5:00 till 7:00 PM. A military graveside will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 10:30 AM.
