Richard J. Welsh, 68, of Eustis, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he moved to Eustis in 1985 from Miami, Florida where he had lived since 1970, coming from Connecticut. He was a Private Investigator and worked in security for the NBA for the Orlando Magic. He holds a US Patent for his invention called The Sail Cradle. Prior to moving to Florida, Richard was a member of the Poquonock Community Church and a volunteer with the Poquonock Fire Department and crafted the shield that hung outside that station. Richard was a member and deacon at Bay Street Baptist Church, Eustis. He served his country in the US Air Force during Vietnam. Richard was pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Alice Welsh of Windsor, CT and Sun City Center, FL. Richard is survived by his wife, Donna M. Perman, Eustis, FL; son, Vince Welsh, Winter Park, FL; step-daughter, Kimberly Newman, Tavares, FL; sister, Linda Dailey, Niantic, CT; three nieces, Debra Lacy, South Lyme, CT; Robin Lawrence, Vero Beach, FL; Jill Hutchins, Suffield, CT, five grandchildren, Madeline, Annabelle, Zackary, Lacey & Ayden. Services will be held at Bay Street Baptist Church, Eustis on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM.
