Richard G. Shipes Jr.

Richard G. ShipesJr., 92, of Mount Dora, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Born and raised in Mount Dora, graduated from Mount Dora High School in 1938. He joined the Navy in 1940, a year before Pearl Harbor and WWII. He owned the Rest Awhile Gift Shop in downtown Mount Dora. Richard worked as a watch repairman for Merry Jewelers. He was amember of St. Edwards Episcopal Church of Mount Dora and was a 60+ year member of the Masonic Lodge #238 of Mount Dora where he was Past Grand Master. He is survived by Son, David B. Shipes of Darlington, SC; Daughter, Merrill Lynn Shipes of Eustis, FL; Sisters, Faye S. Keen of Mount Dora, FL, Ruth S. Sutley of Stone Mountain, GA and Barbara S. Gregg of Marianna, FL; Grandchildren, Angelica and Michael Shipes and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
