Richard Lowell Germeroth, 86, of Altoona, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife and close family on Friday, January 3, 2025. Born in Baltimore, MD, on December 10, 1938, he lived a life full of love, family, and service. Lowell was a faithful husband and loving father, and incredible leader and a disciple of Jesus Christ. He served in the Army National Guard for 7 years and worked for Western Electric until 1977 when he relocated his young family to Lake County, FL, where he built a lasting legacy as a business owner and dedicated member of LifePointe Church (formerly First Baptist Church) in Eustis.
Lowell is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Bernie Germeroth; his children, Daniel (Heather) of Leesburg, FL, Jeffrey (Wendy) of Tuskegee, AL, and Lori (Juan) Esarey Leiva of Oxford, FL; his brother, Dr. Stephen (Kathy) of Ocean City, MD; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A man described by those who knew him as a class act warrior. A man with incredible faith, integrity, perseverance and a big heart. Lowell was known for his genuine love, kindness and encouragement to others. He loved his family and friends deeply, celebrated their achievements, and cherished time spent together, whether on the water fishing, enjoying a meal, or traveling. His Godly example as a man and husband did not go unnoticed. His life was dedicated to being a fisher of men, engaging with others meaningfully and in faith, committed to impacting their lives with Christ's love and message. His warmth, generosity, and wisdom will be remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM at LifePointe Church, Eustis, with visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and a fellowship after his celebration. To celebrate his love of fishing, both literally and his life dedicated to being a fisher of men as Matthew 4:19 reads, his family will be celebrating him with a "Gone Fishin' " theme. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to https://www.gofundme.com/f/honor-lowells-caregivers-dedication?attribution_id=sl:b675aa53-054b-471d-b622-d18a31a7f4c6&utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link for the purpose of supporting several of the amazing health care team members who tirelessly cared for him in his times of greatest need. These donations will be used to provide some financial support to some of those desiring to and actively pursuing higher education in the health care field. Their excellent care provided great comfort to our family, and we are grateful!
Lowell—known lovingly as Dad, Pop Pop, Poopsie, Mr. G, and Uncle Lowell—leaves a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering kindness that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
