Peggy Gaskins Coffman was born in Chesterfield, SC on May 8th, 1926 . She grew up on a farm as one of seven girls. After graduating from high school she moved to Washington, DC where she worked in the photographic lab of the FBI. Peggy met her husband, Harold,(deceased 2008), a young marine, at the USO in Washington DC. They moved to Orlando, FL in 1957 where Harold worked for the Martin Company as an aeronautical engineer and then moved to Eustis in 1962. During the 1960’s Peggy worked in the office at Eustis Elementary School. Peggy was a Sunday School teacher and choir member at First Baptist Church, Eustis (now LifePointe) for many years. She also enjoyed her garden and was a member of the garden club. Peggy was an avid reader and loved playing cards every week with her special group of friends. She is survived by two sisters, Joan and Jean Gaskins of Chesterfield, SC and her 3 children, Michael (Deborah) Coffman, Beth (Eric) Blamick, and Major General David (Jean) Coffman, USMC RET. Peggy has 8 grandchildren: Lt. Commander Nicholas (Danielle) Crossland, USN, Nathan (Jessica) Blamick, Kari Blamick, Matthew Coffman, Ruthie Coffman, Clay (Laura) WalkingEagle, Cole (Tiffany) WalkingEagle, Kamora Coffman, and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at LifePointe Church, Eustis on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.
