Pauline M. Schurtz

Pauline M. Schurtz (Paula) of Eustis, Florida died on Wednesday Oct 28, 2009 at age 76. She was born in Bayonne, New Jersey. A devoted wife and mother, she lived a large part of her life in New Jersey raising seven children with her husband Frank Szlasa. Her husband Frank died in 1977. In 1983 she remarried Paul Schurtz and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they were owners of Pine Lakes Golf Course. They moved to Eustis in 1986. Paula leaves behind four sons, David Szlasa, Eustis, FL, Robert Szlasa, Stroudsburg, PA, Paul Szlasa, West Palm Beach, Fl, Albert Szlasa, Paisley, FL; and one daughter Paula Szlasa of Umatilla, FL. She is further survived by her brother Albert Gallucci of Las Vegas, NV as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition, she is lovingly remembered by faithful sisters-in-law, Jackie Szlasa, Allentown, PA, and Sister Mary Olivia Szlasa, O.S.F., Cateret, NJ. She was preceded in death by husbands Frank Szlasa and Paul Schurtz; and two sons, Mark Szlasa and Frank Szlasa, Jr. Paula will be best remembered for her warm smile and never missing an opportunity to open her home for a festive meal. With the ability to laugh and join any crowd, she was a friend to everyone and no one was ever a stranger in her presence. Her family will receive friends Friday evening, October 30, at the Harden-Pauli Funeral Home located at 1617 South Bay Street, Eustis, FL 32726 from 7:00-9:00 pm with a brief memorial service at 8:00.
