Niles Jester, beloved husband and father passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012.
Niles was born May 20, 1927 in West Palm Beach and was raised in Tampa where he attended the local schools. While attending Plant High School he was involved in ROTC, was an Eagle Scout and also met the love of his life Bebe Brown. After high school he served in the Army of Occupation in Japan.
When he returned in 1948 he married Bebe and she worked to put him through college at the University of Florida. He earned a degree in accounting and they moved to Orlando. He followed in his father‘s footsteps by joining Thompson and McKinnon Securities. The company changed names many times but he stayed at the position as stock broker taking care of his clients. He also was an active member in community organizations. He retired 2009 after 57 years in the security business.
He was known throughout Orlando as an honest and fair financial advisor who enjoyed helping his family, friends and clients. Niles’ integrity, sense of humor and personal interest in others won him many friends. Through the years he had multiple generations of families who were loyal to him and would seek his advice and services.
Niles enjoyed many different sports. He liked water skiing and he and Bebe went water skiing when they were young and later Niles taught his children how to water ski on the Chain of Lakes. Niles was an excellent fisherman and loved salt water fishing. He taught all of his children how to fish as well. For many years he went camping and fishing down at Pine Island with Bebe and the children. He was a devoted Gator fan and held season tickets. He attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church and raised his children there.
Niles is survived by his wife, Bebe, of 64 years; Susan Coleman (Gene); Ann Collins (David); Elizabeth (Betsy) Holley ( Jack) Niles Jr.; Sally Jester-Caradona (Kevin); Ellen Vorbeck (Tim); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1603 East Winter Park Road, Orlando at 5:00 pm.
