Nancy A. Smith of Slyvania, GA, passed peacefully from this life on October 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, following her courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Ron "Red" Smith, daughter of Anna Marie Merwarth, loving mother of Nicholas J. Smith (Jessica), Megan A. Askins (Huey), cherished Nana of Brady, Phineas, Grace, and Shelby, sister of Suzanne McDougald and Edward Merwarth Jr. (Carol), and loving aunt of Shawn McDougald, Jeremy Merwarth, Craig Merwarth, and Kristen Boyer (Matthew). Her father, Edward J. Merwarth and brother, Timothy P. Merwarth, respectively predeceased her. Nancy was born on November 11, 1953, in Bethlehem, PA, to Edward and Anna Marie (Armatruda) Merwarth. She grew up in Bethlehem, PA, graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School, and later moved to Orlando, Fl where she met and married her husband Red in 1975. Together, in Sorrento, Fl, they raised their two children. Nancy's heart was in service to her church community and family. Nancy served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sunday School teacher for Saint Patrick's Catholic Church. She frequently found ways to support local military, and public service personnel such as local fire stations. Nancy's true love was being a wife, mother, and Nana. Nancy lived as she passed, with dignity and grace.Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Nancy's life at the following events:
-Viewing at Harden-Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida on Thursday 11/1/18 from 6pm-8pm.
-Catholic Funeral Mass on Friday 11/2/18 at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Mt Dora, Florida at 9am.
