Michael George Werst

Michael George Werst, 77, of Tavares, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, he moved to Central Florida in 1957 from Pompano Beach, Florida.He graduated from the University of Central Florida and started his own software management company in Eustis. He also worked for the City of Eustis prior to his retirement in 2007. After retirement, Michael volunteered for 5 years as a workkamper at parks across the USA. Michael loved the outdoors. He always loved taking his family camping. He played softball, golf, was a fisherman, enjoyed bicycling, he coached and umpired for Mount Dora Little League. In his day, he was a great Tennis Player. Michael was also a former President of the Mount Dora Swim Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marsha Werst, Tavares, FL; son, Matthew (Barbara) Werst, Eustis, FL; daughter, Monica "Nikki" (Byron) Shelton, Eustis, FL; brother, David Werst, Leesburg, FL; 5 grandchildren, Gabriella Shelton, Alexandria Shelton, Mitchell Werst, Robert Rawson, Brenna Werst; 4 great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Sophia, Anna, Oaklynn. A celebration of Michael's life will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
