Michael G. Sakelarides, 83, of Leesburg, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to the late Michael and Helen Casper-Sakelarides. Michael was a graduate of Myers High School Class of 1948, He served in the Navel Reserves, in Kingston, PA, as a radio-radar instructor retiring in 1955 as seaman-first class. Michael worked for Kraft Foods Inc. in Hillside, NJ for 24 years. He was employed by Union County Board of Education, Springfield, NJ as Maintance Supervisor of Union County Regional School Distrct #1 for 16 years, before relocating to Leesburg, FL in 1995. Michael was a member of the Coral Mummers String Band of Elizabeth, NJ; was Past Master Councilor of Susquehanna Chapter order of DeMolay of Wilkes-Barre and has been honored by the Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay with the Chevalier Degree; Financial Secretary of the Garwood Lions of Garwood, NJ; Past Exalted Ruler of the Mountainside Elks Lodge #1585 of Mountainside, NJ and was honored with a lifetime membership for serving 25 years. He is survived by Wife - Joan Sakelarides of Leesburg, FL; Sons - Michael Sakelarides of Windgap, PA, Paul Sakelarides of Greenland, NH, and John Sakelarides of Phillipsburg, NJ; Daughter - Ann Mannion of Parksburg, PA; Brothers - James Saks of Scranton, PA and Joseph Saks of Wilkes-Barre, PA; Sisters - Marie Polites of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Bessie Lion of Tonawanda, NY, Sophie Pappas of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Irene Rowe of Wilkes-Barre, PA; Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
