Michael Purvis, 39, of Umatilla, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021. Born in Eustis, Florida, he was a lifelong resident of Lake County. Michael graduated from Umatilla High School Class of 2000. Michael was known by all as an amazing husband, father, and son, but he was so much more than that. He was still deeply in love with his wife, Kristi, who he married in 2009, and his kids were the most important part of his life. While he was an exemplary family man, he was also quite accomplished in the business world. In 2003, just a few years after graduating high school, Michael founded his business, Specialty Fabrication and Welding. Michael’s work ethic, customer service, and high-quality craftsmanship helped him grow that business exponentially year after year---from 2 employees in the early years to more than 20 today. Michael was also an outdoorsman. Whenever his busy schedule permitted, he loved to go hunting or fishing with Kristi, Henry and Hallee. He loved the outdoors, but more so, he cherished the time he was able to spend there with his family. His extended family was always happy for him to hunt because that meant a barbecue would be upcoming soon. The cookouts provided by Michael and his brother-in-law, Ed, were must-attend events for all in the family. The type of meat wasn’t important---if Michael was grilling it, you knew it was going to be good! Michael was also active in the community that he loved so much. At different times he coached youth T-ball and soccer. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Umatilla for many years, and he loved Jesus. Michael dedicated his life to the Lord many years ago and the light of God shined through him in so many ways. Michael’s legacy of love will live on through his family, his employees and countless others who were blessed to spend time with him. Michael is survived by his wife, Kristi Purvis, Umatilla, FL; son, Henry Lee Purvis, Umatilla, FL; daughter, Hallee Nicole Purvis, Umatilla, FL; parents, Scott and Karen Purvis, Umatilla, FL; grandfather, Hank Purvis, Umatilla, FL; in-laws, Jerry & Debbie Rogers, Umatilla, FL; sister & brother-in-law, Eddie & Jenna Johnson, Umatilla, FL; niece, Jasmine Riggin; nephew, Eddie Lee Johnson.
