Marjorie Thompson Hockett, 85, of Mount Dora, FL passed away May 12, 2012. She is a 4th generation Floridian. Born to William C. and Eunice N. Burke Thompson in 1926 in Jacksonville, FL. The family moved to Miami, FL in 1928 where she grew up; attended public schools there and graduated from the University of Miami in 1948. She attended the Library School at the University of Denver during 1948-49 where she met her future husband, William C. Hockett. Their long and happy marriage began in August, 1949 in Miami and continued until his death in 2008. They lived in Omaha, NE where he taught at the University of Nebraska-Omaha for 35 years while she was librarian at Brownell-Talbot School for 14 years. She was active in several professional and social organizations. When he retired in 1985, they moved to Mount Dora, FL where they assisted her widowed mother and aunt. Life was pleasant in Mount Dora and they enjoyed frequent trips while health permitted. She is survived by several cousins; Niece Sue Brown Minor and her husband Tom of Mesa, AZ and Nephew Dennis Brown of Phoenix, AZ.
