Leon Hamilton

Leon Hamilton, 90, of Grand Island, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he moved to Leesburg in 1969 from Miami, Florida. Leon was the Principal of Eustis High School from 1969-1974 and later former Director for MIS (Management Information Systems) for the Lake County School Board. He was the former 2 time president of the Eustis Rotary (now known as Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle). Leon was always very active in his local church, being a deacon for over 32 years and was most recently a member of Lake Saunders Baptist Church, Mount Dora. Leon also served his country in the USNavy during Korea. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue Hamilton, Grand Island, FL; 2 daughters, Lisa Dawn Hamilton Shepherd, Orange City, FL, Heather Leigh Hamilton, Eustis, FL; grandson, William Christian Shepherd, Leesburg, VA; sister-in-law, Janet Hamilton, Atlanta, GA. A celebration of Leon's life will be held at Lake Saunders Baptist Church, Tavares on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 6:00 PM. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis.
