Kathleen Lee Fletcher

November 22, 1961 — October 20, 2024

Mount Dora, Florida

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, MiMi, sister, aunt, boss, friend, colleague, and all-around the most selfless person who lived and led with love in her heart and spirited dreams—Kathleen “Kathy” Lee Fletcher.

Kathy Fletcher, 62, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away on October 20, 2024. She was born in Jacksonville, FL, on November 22, 1961. She and her husband raised their family in Tupelo, Mississippi. They moved to Mount Dora, FL, in 2016.

Kathy truly enjoyed the challenge of a puzzle, the suspense of a good book, the joy of dancing to any and every song she heard—especially Elvis, the feeling of sand between her toes, the sound of waves crashing against a shore, the anticipation of watching a good storm from the porch, the thrill of a Pittsburgh Steelers game, and the hope of searching for four-leaf clovers, a cherished custom she shared with her sisters in childhood and passed on to her grandchildren. Opening her doors to anyone in need, Kathy made sure that no one ever wanted for anything.

Kathy fought valiantly against the odds of cancer and never gave up. She was a warrior who faced life’s battles with grace and kindness, always wearing a gentle smile and sharing a warm giggle. Kathy fought for herself and for those she loved until her final breath, but we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, free from pain.

Though she had so much more life to live, she will forever remain in our hearts as the vibrant, beautiful woman she was, with not a single gray strand in her stunning blonde hair. She transitioned into heaven on October 20, 2024, holding hands with her loving husband, just shy of their 39th wedding anniversary. She was surrounded by her younger sister and three devoted children, who she selflessly loved and cared for until her very last moment. True to her loving nature, she didn’t leave until she told each person she loved them. That is how she departed: completely and totally full of love.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Monty Fletcher of Mount Dora, FL; her children, Tiffany (Taylor) Stouder of Leesburg, FL, Brittany (James) Wilkerson of Amory, MS, and Monty "Buddy" Fletcher II of Mount Dora, FL; three grandchildren, Annslee Bruce, Rosalee and Wilder Wilkerson, all of Amory, MS; and one great-grandchild, Emerson Bruce of Amory, MS. She is also survived by her siblings, Freddie, Lynn, and Lori, along with numerous extended family members and friends.

In Loving Memory

We hope you’re finally dancing in the field of your dreams with every version of you that can now be freed.

From the little girl with pigtails and ribbons tied with love in her long blonde hair. With bright blue eyes that were so innocent and soft that she knew only of the laughter and warmth of a hug, which was a place called home.

To the oldest sister, whose cheeks were always pink from playing happily with her siblings. Barefoot running with not a pine in sight. Racing through the open fields with flowers in their hair and across swinging bridges following their oldest brother’s lead as he protects them against the world with glee.

To the young lady who is “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” may she forever have round cheekbones from always smiling with not a care in the world that she will always be young and free but a curious drive and dreams of touching the stars as she wishes upon them every night. She never knows danger and only dances with the sound of her spirit and sings right on key.

They are all you, and you are now free.

May we meet you at the lakes in the glorious glimmers that shine.

May we meet you at the beach with every crash of the waves that meets the sand.

May we meet you there amongst the stars where you found the best view.

Maybe we meet you in the air with a sweet breeze that warms our souls.

Maybe we will meet you in the morning at the first peak of a new day.

Maybe we will meet you at sunset while we sit with you on the bay.

Maybe we will meet you in the laughter of our memories.

Maybe we could meet you in the teardrops we shed when we grieve.

Maybe we can carry on the recipes you passed along.

Maybe we can eat together once again as we did.

Maybe we can share some stories about our lives and how you held us all together.

Maybe you could tell us one more time how you loved each of us forever.

But for now, we will have to meet in the songs of our dreams.

We can meet you in the knowing that you are finally freed.

We will see you in the sun rays shining through the darkest clouds.

We will see you walk amongst us as our own guiding light.

We know that you are always with us embedded to a tee.

We still hear your advice in every split decision.

Your smile shines through in each of your children, onto your grands, and to everyone else that knew it.

You’ve always been our biggest fan.

For every moment you gave us was a blessing full of love.

Even when the sad days come, and everything doesn’t go as planned.

We keep with us that we can overcome anything just like you had.

You hoped and dreamed about a life that was more than you were dealt.

And that beautiful lady was achieved.

All holding hands with a man that shared your dream.

Leading a life full of love and laughter,

shall 39 years of marriage pass by as countless thrilling movie scenes.

The love between a man who’s tender and strong and a woman who didn’t know her own strengths.

Years ago, he promised a safe home and y’all went above and beyond.

Caring endlessly for three beautiful babies who you believed in each one and those close to you.

Holding hands with you until the very end. From your children, thank you for becoming the absolute best mother and our very first friend.

Only you could kiss us through our worries and heal every wound just by holding our hand.

Thank you for never giving up and fighting through it all.

You made sure that our cards were always a winning game no matter what you were dealt you never were afraid to take a stand.

Together you and Dad gave us more than we could ever need, but the best thing we all received was more endless love from you than we ever could dream.

Thank you for being you.

You are our sunshine and storm and everything in between.

Until we meet again, Momma, we’ll be looking for you every night dancing with the moon.
