Julio E. Alarcón, 94, devoted husband, father and friend, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away at home on Thursday, December 16, 2021, surrounded by his four children. Born in Bogota, Colombia, he immigrated to the US in 1965. He moved his family to Mount Dora in 1975 from Enfield, Connecticut. He was a mechanic by trade working for Chrysler prior to his retirement. Julio was a member of the St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church of Eustis, FL. He was a huge soccer fan of Santa Fe, Colombia and a baseball fan of the New York Yankees. When asked what the secret to his long life was, he would say laughing every day and a beer at five o’clock. Julio is predeceased by his wife, Rosalba Sanchez de Alarcon and his mother Alcira Alarcon. He is survived by his son, Osvaldo Alarcón of Mount Dora, FL; his three daughters, Luisa A. Grayford of Mount Dora, FL, Maria A. Dodier of Cocoa, FL, Claudia C. Lovin of Cape Canaveral, FL; sister, Aurora Quiroga Alarcón and loving family of Bogota, Colombia; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. The family will receive friends at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, on Monday December 20, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service starting at 6:00
