JOSEPH LEMARCO CAPLANO JR., 87, Waterman Village in Mount Dora, passed away April 20, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Central Florida from Broward County in 2003. He was the owner of Power Sweeping Services in Medley, FL. He was a Catholic and served in the Merchant Marine. Joe’s passion was music. He played the banjo and was an accomplished concert violinist during his youth. He was the music director for the Miami Merry Mummers. He was a member of the Hot Alligator Gumbo Society, which plays Dixieland jazz in South Florida, the Ocala Jazz and Over-the-Hill Gang of Waterman Village. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 41 years of marriage; children, Ronnie Caplano, Richie Caplano, Sara Shaw, all of Fort White, FL, Margaret Stabler, Columbia, S.C., Margie MacDonald, Harrisburg, PA, Linda Hanby, Charlotte, NC, and Debbie Manis, Grand Island, FL; brother, Richard Caplano, Clayton, GA; sister, Polly Tully, PA; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. A celebration of Joe’s life is 11 a.m. May 1, Garden of Life Chapel at Waterman Village, 255 Waterman Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Women’s Committee of the Fine Arts of Mount Dora, checks payable to WCFA of Mt.
