John E. Specht, 82, of Eustis, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he moved to Eustis in 1992 from Allentown, Pennsylvania. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1949-1952 and from 1960-1963. He served in the US Air Force from 1964-1985 during Vietnam. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years. John was employed at Mack Trucks for 33 years as an upholsterer and Fire Chief; he was a Deputy Sheriff for 4 years; drove the Parkland School Bus for 6 years. and was a volunteer fire-fighter for 2 years in Greenwald, PA He was a life-member of the VFW, life-member of the Air Force Sergeants Assoc., life-member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the American Legion and AMVETS. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Amici. John is survived by his wife, Mary (Hierholzer) Specht, Eustis, FL; son, John L. Specht, Slatington, PA; 2 daughters, Donna Wertman, Orefield, PA, Rose Mastrosimone, Lady Lake, FL; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 6-8 PM. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Wescoesville, PA.
