John A. Lunderman

John A. "Jack" Lunderman, 80, of Madrid, NY, most recently Norwich, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the NYS Veterans' Home, in Oxford, NY.
Born on February 12, 1942, in Potsdam, NY, Jack was the son of Floyd and Katherine
(Hollinger) Lunderman. John joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and became a lineman for the Navy. He served our nation proudly and was proud to be a Navy SeaBee. Jack spent six years serving during the Vietnam War. After Vietnam, Jack continued to serve our nation with the U.S. Navy Seabees until he retired after 20+ years of service. After retirement from his military service, John became an electrician at Clarkson University where he retired after 25 years. John then went on to work and become a member of the Local IBEW 910, working on many jobs all over New York State until he retired. On September 26, 1964, John married Betty Jo (McGlohon) Lunderman, who predeceased him on October 20, 2002. John "Jack" loved his family above all else. He loved spending one on one time with his grandchildren. Jack loved to cook and always loved trying new things. He was happiest driving his truck to all sorts of places, especially to beautiful outdoor locations with his dog by his side. Jack lived each day in the moment. He found humor every day and enjoyment for life easy. Jack was the person who could walk in a room and makes friends easily. He had a big heart and would give anyone help who needed it. Jack had a gift för living in the present moment to which we should all strive for. John is survived by his children, John (Vicky) Lunderman of Florida, Victoria (Edward) Mitchell, of Norwich; grandchildren, Mikayla Kopinsky, Tony White, Chelsea Ebert, Marissa Mitchell, and Nicholas Mitchell.; great-grandchildren, Enzleigh Spier, Emberlynn Spier, Brandon Kopinsky, Levi White, Raylan White, Wyatt White. Spencer Ebert, and Hunter Ebert; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Sheldon, Judy Simmons, and Baby Lois, who died in inläncy. A funeral service for John will take place at I :00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the Broad Street United Methodist Church, Norwich, NY, where the Rev. Mary Rublee, pastor, will officiate. Burial next to his wife, Betty Jo, will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eustis, FL. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of both Preston Manor and the NYS Veteran's Home in Oxford for making the last two years of Jack's life one of comfort. His daughter, Victoria, is so thankful she was allowed to still assist with his care in a way that honored her father because of their help and considers them all an extension of Jack's family.
