John August Kozuch

John August Kozuch, Sr., 83, of Leesburg, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021. He was born in the Bronx, New York to mother Matilda Zivica and father Augustine Kozuch. John was a widower, and had married his wife Barbara Burnet in 1961, whom he loved dearly. He moved to Florida in 1979 from upstate New York and to Leesburg in 2014 from Ocala. He was Chief Security officer for Ocala Jai Alai before retiring. John was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, Leesburg. John was a man with big blue eyes, a huge heart, sense of humor, and was full of life with an excitement and deep love for his family. He was an avid sports fan, with the New York Jets being his favorite football team and Joe Namath his all time favorite player. He also loved animals and had a cat Fred, and a dog Blue. John is survived by his son, John August Kozuch, Jr., Leesburg, FL; daughter, Eileen Leuthner, Sorrento, FL; granddaughter, Christine Leuthner, Tavares, FL; 2 great-grandchildren, Natylee and Jason Nissen, Tavares, FL. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 2:00 till 4:00 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church, Leesburg on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 8:30 AM. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ocala.
