John Robert "Johnny" Johnson, 87, of Eustis, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025. Born in Bartow, Florida, he moved to Eustis in 1974 from Sebring, Florida. He was a civil engineer for the Department of Agriculture prior to his retirement. Johnny was a member and past president of the Antiques Anonymous Car Club, Triangle Rod & Custom, the V-8 Club of Orlando and attended Bay Street Baptist Church, Eustis. John enjoyed antique cars, street rods and was a die hard Gators fan. He collected antique toys and enjoyed a cold beer with some hot wings, especially when shared with friends. After 35 years as a civil engineer, he was called back to aid in restoration efforts after hurricanes Hugo, Andrew, Charlie, Francis, and Jean. He received several awards, including a presidential citation for his work. He also worked closely with the Army Corp of Engineers, FEMA and Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Johnson, Eustis, FL; 2 daughters, Joannah (Jeremy) Booth, Palm Bay, FL, Elizabeth Lee, Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Paige Booth, Palm Bay, FL. He was preceded in death by his daughter, April Leigh Johnson in 2016. Services will be held at Bay Street Baptist Church, Eustis on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 till 11:00 AM.
