John William "Bill" Dawson

September 17, 1926 — June 23, 2011

John W. "Bill" Dawson, 84, of Umatilla, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011. Born and lived in Hagerstown, Maryland until he moved to Umatilla in 1984. He was a furniture upholsterer and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bill was Past Commander of VFW Post 8087 of Eustis; Military Order of the Cooties; Scratching 36; American Legion Post 2006 of Mount Dora; and member of the the Army/Navy Garrison Unit. Bill is survived by Wife, Betty J. Dawson; Sons, John and Mark Dawson; Daughters, Lana, Renee and Maria; Step-Sons, Roger, Michael, Ervin and Stanley Lamm; Step-Daughter, V. Faye Hose; Brothers, Roy, George and Gary Dawson; Sisters,- Frances Smith and Hazel Grove; 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis, on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 2PM till 4PM. Graveside services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post 8087 of Eustis.
