Jeanne B. Van Dellen, 88 of Tavares, completed her journey through this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Jeanne was born in Waterford, Ohio in 1921 and graduated from Marietta College. She married Ross Van Dellen in 1945 during WWII. They moved to Eustis in the late 1960’s. They both loved being part of the community. They started several businesses including the TruValue Hardware in what was the old post office building, which they converted to the present Van Dee Medical Building, and the VanDee Pecan Orchard. They were active members of the Bay Street Baptist Church where Jeanne taught Sunday School and they assisted several new churches to start up. Jeanne was a volunteer tutor for several children at a local school and helped deliver meals on wheels. After Ross passed away in 2002, Jeanne continued volunteer activities and helped Steve learn to operate the Pecan orchard. Jeanne is survived by her son, Stephen Van Dellen and grandson, Michael Van Dellen. A memorial service for Jeanne will be held at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 3:00 PM. While Jeanne was an enthusiastic gardener and loved flowers, she would prefer that donations be made to either the Bay Street Baptist Church food pantry, which she supported even after she entered assisted living, or to the Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, who were so helpful in her last days.
