Jan W. Ziegengeist

Jan W. Ziegengeist, 72, of Tavares, FL, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. He was a native of Wildwood, NJ, the son of the late Walter and Leona Myers Ziegengeist. Leutenent Ziegengieist was with the Eustis Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He was a Firefighter Instructor at Lake-Tech Kenneth Bragg Center. He was a popular performer at the local music outlets as a folk singer/musician, an avid golfer, and a founding member of the Lake Eustis Museum of Art. He is survived by his wife Mary; 4 daughters, June Perez of Orlando, Jill Shepherd of Umatilla, Amy Rich of Eustis, and Kathy Mabery of Otto, NC; 2 sons, Jim Mabery of Panama City, FL, and Alan Sheppard of San Diego, CA; and 15 grandchildren, Jim, Carl, Jason, Brian, Chad, Brendan, Clay, Matt, Leslie, Kayla, Meagan, Mae Lynn, Lynn-Anne, Chad, and Ethan; and two brothers, Roy Ziegengeist , Manakin-Sabot, VA, and Norman (Butch) Ziegengeist, Eustis. He was preceded in death by daughter, Paula Cutler. A Celebration of Life will be June 16th at Life Community Church in Eustis at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Lt. Ziegengeist Firefighter Scholarship Fund.
