James E. Neilson

James Edwin Neilson (Jim), 74, of Eustis, Florida, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021. A Florida native, Jim has lived in Central Florida for the past 35 years, most recently in Eustis since 2017 after moving from Winter Garden, Florida. He was an educator for over 30 years, working most of his career at Central Florida Christian Academy in Orlando and Foundation Academy in Winter Garden.

Jim served in the United States Airforce during Vietnam and was always proud to be an American. He enjoyed fishing, playing the trombone, encouraging his grand-children, and helping and serving others. Jim was a faithful member of Bay Street Baptist Church in Eustis, FL and was passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone through word and deed.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Hortense Neilson; and by his brothers, Harry Louis Neilson and David Robin Neilson. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky) Jane Neilson of Eustis, FL; son, James Edwin Neilson, Jr. of Winter Garden, FL; daughter, Rebekah Joy Carrasquillo of Deltona, FL; sister, Karen Michelle Keel of Winter Haven, FL; five Grandchildren - Stephaine, Elizabeth, Robert, Andrew, Ruth and one Great-Grandchild on the way.

Military Honors will be held for close family at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 12:30 PM. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and gifts may be made through a go fund me in his honor named “Jim’s Homegoing”
