James Warren Hanson

James Warren Hanson, 83, of Mount Dora, FL, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010. Jim was born in Wakefield, NE, on April 20, 1927. He received Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Nebraska, and earned a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jim worked with Exxon Corporation for 31 years, retiring as the company’s Chief Economist in 1986. Since retiring to Mount Dora, he has been active in many church and community organizations, including Faith Lutheran Church, Kiwanis, Friends of the Mount Dora Library, Mount Dora Community Concerts, and the Florida Waterman Hospital Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen; four children, David, Paul, Kristen and Kathryn; eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on October 2 at 1:30pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 2727 S. Grove St., Eustis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Myositis Association, 1737 King Street, Suite 600, Alexandria, VA 22314, or to a charity of choice.
