Jack Lewis Hammond, 81, of Mount Dora, passed away at his home on October 23, 2020. Born in 1939 in Isom, Kentucky, he moved to Eustis in 1946. He graduated from Eustis High School in 1958. Jack started working for Ferran’s Department Store at age 16 and bought the business in 1974. Jack loved his work and enjoyed serving his community for many years before retiring from Ferran’s in 1998. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mount Dora, the Eustis Rotary, and the Eustis Elks Lodge. Jack is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean Hammond, Mount Dora, FL; two sons, Mark (Terry) Turner, Mount Dora, FL, Scott (Leona) Turner, Eustis, FL; four daughters, Paige Wilson, Camden, SC, Stefanie (Mike) Evans, Lady Lake, FL, Angie Kopp, Mount Dora, FL, Jennifer (Matt) Smith, Plano, TX; step-mother, Mary Hammond, Andersonville, TN; two sisters, Zola McClish, Monroe, OH, Lynnette (Jack) Currie, Andersonville, TN; twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, George Bennett Hammond; mother, Olpha Hammond; son-in-law, Paul Wilson; two brothers, Leonard "Bud" Hammond, Jerry Patrick. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel in Eustis on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Conquest Cemetery, Zellwood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 till 11:00 AM.
