Irma Oeth Morgan, 87, of Tavares, Florida passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 29, 1932. She moved to Tavares in 1959 from Evansville, Indiana. She started her career as the Secretary to the Principal of the Mt. Dora High School, in Mt. Dora, Florida. She then went to work in Business Administration with the Lake County School Corporation until her retirement.
Irma was a graduate of University of Central Florida receiving her Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Irma was a Past President of the Mt. Dora Business Professional Women’s Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tavares for over 60 years. Irma was a very active member of the Church chairing and serving on numerous committees. Her passion was serving for over 25 years on the Fine Arts Committee (Celebrate the Arts) and many of those years as Chairman.
Irma and her husband, Jack, traveled all over the United States in their Avion camper, visiting all 50 States and meeting so many friends. They built a summer home in Haines, Alaska. Irma was able to spend 25 summers in Haines attending the Haines Presbyterian Church, singing in the Choir and teaching Vacation Bible School.
Irma is preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Morgan, sister, Venita Schultz (Norman) and brother, Raymond Oeth (Janie), brother-in-law, Milan (Mac) McCutchan, sister-in-law, Carolyn Morgan Giles.
She is survived by her sister, Vera McCutchan of Evansville, IN, a special niece Jane Ann Hamby (Dave) of Haubstadt, IN & Leesburg, FL, step-daughter, Lynn Freeman (Sonny) of Marietta, GA, step-sons, Martin Morgan (Edwina) of Norfolk, VA and Mac Morgan (Abby) of Freeport, FL.; Grandchildren, Matthew, Joel, Daniel and John David Morgan; 5 Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and special extended family.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Tavares on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends prior from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM.
