Holly Mebane Smith-Norman, Having just celebrated her 56th birthday, Holly Smith-Norman passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 in the arms of her loving former husband & fiancée Alan D. Norman. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, January 25, 1958 she was raised in Kirkwood, Missouri; graduated from Kirkwood High School with honors and continued her education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She majored in English and possessed a creative spirit, especially in writing. Holly was an avid reader, enjoyed to travel, saw the Berlin wall come down, wrote several novels and witnessed the 1976 Bicentennial at the St. Louis Arch, but her greatest joy was raising her daughter, Chase with her husband, Alan. She was the best mother in the world to Chase Jeneva Norman, and her family wishes to express their admiration for her strength and heroism during her long illness. She will be greatly missed by her mother, Dorothy Davis Smith of Eustis, FL, her siblings, Burr R. Smith (Holly P.), Tori Smith Trauscht, Karen Chase Smith, Todd Elsworth Smith including the following nieces and nephews: Jessamine Downs (Nick), Katlin Mahley (Justin), McKall Smith, Bordon Smith (Casey), Hattie Smith, Bryon Trauscht (Emmah), Tracy Trauscht, Haley Smith, Harper Smith, her niece, Jordanna L'Esperance-Chouinard (Adam P.), and her in-laws Ruthe L. L'Esperance and Paul I. Norman. She was predeceased by her father, Brice Reynolds Smith, Jr. The celebration of her life will be private on Wednesday morning and any remembrances should be sent to: Dr. Edith Perez, Breast Cancer Research, Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville FL 32224.
