Herman S. Ratliff

Herman S. Ratliff of Umatilla, Fl passed away June 30, 2010 of lung failure. He was born in Alva, Ky (the Black Star Coal Camp) October 26, 1937, the youngest of four children. He moved to central Fl in 1971. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, taking part in the Cuban Missile Crisis and 2 tours of duty in Viet-Nam. He attended the Epiphany Anglican Church of Eustis, Fl and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Tavares, FL, the Bahia Shrine of Orlando, Fl, the Lake County Shrine, the Fleet Reserve Association, V.F.W. and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was an active reader of fiction and enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He loved spending time with family and friends and was known for his quick wit and his endless supply of country euphemisms for any situation. He was in good spirits to the end. Herman is survived by his wife, Rosemary and his three children, Joseph, Stacy and Logan - his three siblings Sara, Dixie and Jerry - his two grandchildren Steven and Justin - his daughter in law, Melissa - his sister in law Aretta -and all of his extended family and close friends.
