Helen Formby Mosteller, 92, of Mount Dora, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Born in 1925 at Lakeland, Florida, she moved to Eustis with her family in 1930. A 1943 graduate of Eustis High School, she attended Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, TN and received her Bachelor’s of Education from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. Later in life, she would earn her Master’s of Education from Rollins College. Helen and Clyde Mosteller were married on November 18, 1956 at the First Baptist Church of Eustis. Upon marriage, she became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora. Mrs. Mosteller’s career as a teacher and guidance counselor spanned over 30 years. She worked in elementary, secondary, and adult education in schools across Florida, from Miami to DeFuniak Springs. Locally, she is fondly remembered by her students from Mount Dora’s Roseborough Elementary, Eustis High, Mount Dora High, Umatilla Middle, and Lake County Adult Education. Helen was one of the original mediators at the inception of Lake County’s Small Claims Court mediation program. She was a member of Chapter CA of P.E.O, The United Daughters of the Confederacy, and of the Lake County Gator Boosters Club. Helen is survived by her husband, Clyde E. Mosteller, of Mount Dora; son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Sarah Mosteller of Mount Dora; grandchildren, Jackson Mosteller and Georgia Mosteller; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Mount Dora, on Tuesday, October 24, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Pine Forest Cemetery, Mount Dora. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis, on Monday, October 23, from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.
