Harry Weston Shaw Jr.

Harry Weston Shaw, Jr., 92, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 in Tallahassee, Florida. A memorial service with Military Honors and celebration of his life is planned for Monday, December 22, 2014 at 3:00pm at Harden-Pauli funeral home, 1617 South Bay Street, Eustis, Florida. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey on September 9, 1922, Harry was a long-time resident of Eustis, where his family first settled in 1937. He graduated from Eustis High School in 1941 and later earned an AA degree from Lake/Sumter Community College. He moved from Eustis to Brandon, Florida in 1999, and resided in Tallahassee since 2002. He retired as a Master Chief from the United States Navy after 30 years of service. He then worked for General Electric and later for the US Postal Service as a walking mailman for over ten years. As a WWII Veteran who participated in both the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters, he was a member of the Eustis Elks, American Legion, VFW, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He had a life-long love of stamp collecting and vegetable gardening, which he generously shared with family, friends and passersby. He practiced his Christian faith as a Presbyterian most of his life, and later as a Catholic. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee.
Harry leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Maria Silveri Shaw, two children, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren: daughter, Brunetta Shaw Pfaender and husband Buster of Tallahassee; son, Richard L. Shaw and wife Lisa and step granddaughter, Mandolyn Rupp of Brooksville; grandson, David R. Shaw of Tampa; granddaughter, Jennifer Shaw Taberlet and husband, Nicolas, and two great granddaughters, Clementine and Chloe, of Irigny, France. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Weston Shaw, Sr.; mother, Edna Wary Shaw; sister, Jane Shaw Sapp Hartenstein; and brother, Daniel Shaw.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to Honor Flight Tallahassee, PO Box 12033, Tallahassee, FL 32317; or to the Golden Triangle VFW Post 8087, 4065 N Highway 19A, Mount Dora, FL 32757.
