Gina L. Townsend

Gina L. Townsend, 94, of Eustis, FL, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017. Born in News Swanzy, Michigan, she was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army where she was a nurse to General Douglas MacArthur. Following her time in the military, she worked and retired from Monsanto Chemical Co. Gina later moved to Eustis in 2012, after living in Milton, FL for over 60 years. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Milton Florida and the Pensacola Association of Industrial Nurses. Gina is survived by her son, Dr. Forrest I. (Sally) Townsend, Jr., Fort Walton Beach, FL; daughter, Bonnie K. (Vincent) Figliolia, Eustis, FL; sister, Janice Nemmers, Grand Rapids, MI; 4 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Forrest I. Townsend, Sr. A memorial service will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. Gina’s favorite charities were, Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project or a local St. Vincent de Paul Society.
