Gary Kenneth Fanta, 66, of Grand Island, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Born in Washington, D.C. he moved to Grand Island in 1979 from New Jersey. Gary graduated from Asbury college in 1978. He was an educator in Lake County for over 35 years. He touched countless lives at Eustis Middle School, later at Tavares High School and teaching teacher’s how to utilize technology in their classrooms. Gary also coached many soccer teams including YMCA teams, club soccer and Tavares High School girls soccer. Gary volunteered his time, computer knowledge and resources to Life’s Choices Women’s Clinic. This ministry shares the love and hope of God to women and men who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. He was willing to stand up and speak for those who are yet to have a voice. ‘’A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born to help in a time of need.‘’ Proverbs 17:17. He was so generous with all he had. He enjoyed Computers and Technology, Camping and Hiking, Scuba and most of all spending time with his family. Gary will be remembered for his steadfast love for God and his family and always being able to find a good deal. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Fanta of Grand Island, FL; Son, Chris (Sara) Fanta, Knoxville, TN; Daughter, DeAnne Fanta of Chattanooga, TN; Sisters, Nancy Tobias of Northfield, NJ, and Patty Masonheimer of Charlottesville, VA; Grandchildren, Ian, Allie, and Ryan Fanta; and numerous extended family and friends. Memorial services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Life's Choices Women's Clinic (friendsoflifeschoices.com).
