Evelyn Hall Smith, 79, of Eustis, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was born in Umatilla, Florida to William Robert Hall, Sr. and Bessie Mae Brown and was a life long resident of Lake County. She was Vice President of Lake Mechanical Contractors of Eustis and a member of the Bay Street Baptist Church of Eustis. Evelyn has served her community on the City Commission and as Mayor of Eustis. Evelyn was first elected November 1988 and sworn in on January 3, 1989. She was subsequently elected to four additional four year terms with her last year on the Commission being 2008, serving a total of 20 years consecutively. During her tenure on the Commission, she served as Mayor four different times in 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2008. She also served as Vice Mayor five times in 1993, 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2007. She is survived by her Husband, Johnny Barto Smith of Eustis, FL; Son, Barto Smith, Jr. (aka Tzimon Barto) of Eustis, FL; Brother, James Hall of Umatilla, FL; many Nieces, Nephews, and extended family, Services will be held at Bay Street Baptist Church, Eustis on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM.
