Douglas Durant Parrish, Sr., 86, of Clermont, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at Suwanee, FL. Born in Currie, North Carolina, he moved to Lakeland in 1962 from Wilmington, NC. He was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wireless Technologies Equipment Company, Inc. of Florida and worked with Motorola Corporation from 1961-1996. Mr. Parrish was a Southern Baptist and member of First Baptist Church of Windermere and attended Suwannee Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army, was a senior member of Senior Men's Golf Association of Sanctuary Ridge of Clermont, an active volunteer and sponsor with Special Olympics of Central Florida and many other charities and special events. Mr. Parrish is survived by his sons: Douglas Durant Parrish, Jr. of Suwannee, Donald G. (Sherry) Parrish of Suwannee, Robert Dean Parrish, Clermont, sister: Marcy Parrish West of Tallahassee, sister-in-law: Margaret Parrish, son-in-law: Ronnie Kitchens, granddaughter: Lindsy Nicole Parrish, great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jeremy, Emily and Sarah Beth, and devoted caregiver: Pam Chattin of Clermont. He was predeceased by his wife: Elizabeth Parrish, sister: Lucille Huffham, brother: H.D. Parrish, Jr., and sister: Jonnie Gray. Services will be held at First Baptist Church Windermere-Downtown Campus, 300 Main Street, Windermere 34786 on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Winter Garden Cemetery, 13636 Lake Butler Blvd., Winter Garden, 34787. Visitation for friends will be at First Baptist Church Windermere-Downtown Chapel, 436 Oakdale Street, Windermere 34786 on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.
