Douglas Donald MacDonald, 62, of Umatilla, FL passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Joseph and Cecilia MacDonald, he moved to Umatilla in 1999. He worked at Camp Boggy Creek in Cassia, FL providing maintenance. Mr. MacDonald was an U.S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, a life member of the D.A.V., and a former member of the Toastmasters. He is survived by Wife-Janice M. MacDonald of Umatilla, FL; Son-Joe MacDonald of Eugene, OR; Daughter-Frances Marie MacDonald of Umatilla, FL; Brother-Archie (Bear) MacDonald of Membertou, Nova Scotia, Canada; Sisters-Marinda MacDonald and Nora (Rheal) Plourde both of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Shirley (Wilfred) Ward of Eel Ground, New Brunswick, Canada; and Grandchildren-Harley, Lance, Levi, Logan, Joey and Michael. He was preceded in death by brothers, Noel (Jean) Doucette, Gordon MacDonald, Albert MacDonald and Mervyn MacDonald. Services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 19, 2009, at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM on Monday evening, with a wake service at 7:30 PM.
