Dennis Ray Sutherland Sr.

Dennis Ray Sutherland, Sr., 71, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Miami after being diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. He voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the Vietnam War. He was a volunteer at Gray Fire Department. After retiring from Roadway Trucking Company, he and his wife moved to Dunnellon, Florida where he was an avid fisherman who loved to spend time with his friends and family. Ray was preceded in death by parents, Woodrow and Sylvia Sutherland, and infant son Christopher Sutherland. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda Sue Sutherland; son, Dennis Ray Sutherland, Jr.; daughter Christy Creswell and son-in-law Terrence Creswell; and beloved grandchildren, Samantha Sutherland, Gavin Sutherland, Christopher Creswell, Ashton Creswell, and Parker Creswell; great grandchildren Triston Sutherland, Lilly Sutherland, and Jehu Sutherland; brother Dan Sutherland and sister-in-law Janice Sutherland, brother Pete Sutherland and sister-in-law Ruth Sutherland, sister Libby Holbrook and brother-in-law Joe Holbrook; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, TN on Friday, September 6 at 1 pm.
