Dale Gene Greenawalt went to be with his Lord at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning in the presence of Millie, his lifelong love and caring wife of 60 years. Dale was born March 7, 1935, on the same parcel of land where he raised his family and lived until he moved to Eustis, Fla., in the fall of 2016. Dale leaves behind his wife; three children, Debra (Gary) Ulery of Parma, Richard (June) of Santa Margarita, Calif. and Lori of Haddonfield, N.J.; three grandchildren, Richard Butcher, Amanda Butcher and Ashley Greenawalt; two great-grandchildren, Noah Blessing and Zora Seiler; a sister, Lou Fares; his nieces, Cathy (Don) Dietrick, Pam (Dave) Snowden and April Fares; as well as a sister-in-law, Mary Ann McClain and her children, Ed, Kim, Cheri (Bill) and Linda; a nephew, Ron (Suzie) Garritano; and his cousin, Ruth Strong. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving aunt, Major Alice (Greenawalt) Soltz. He leaves behind friends at the Bailey Road Baptist Church in Ohio and at the Lake Eustis Christian Church in Florida. Dale worked at Republic Steel for 30 years, then activated the family farm and helped anyone who crossed his path. While his health failed him in later years, he never stopped loving his family, Harley Davidsons, cars, tractors, guns, tools and sunsets, and was happiest when visiting with old and new friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Lake Eustis Christian Church, 315 E Orange Ave., Eustis, FL. 32726. A graveside service will be scheduled this summer, when he will be interred in North Jackson.
