Cecil Dorsey "Don" Blake, 79 of Tavares, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina. Don was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Cecil and Mary Blake. Don proudly served with the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he became a police officer and later became a detective with the Eustis Police Department. Upon his retirement from the Eustis Police Department, he took over ownership of Mount Dora Photo Center. After 10 years, Don became a Deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Don was an active member of the Lake County Fair Board for many years, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Tavares. Left to cherish Don’s memory are his wife, Sheila Martin Blake, with whom he spent 57 loving years; two daughters, Donna Blake Wilbanks of Tavares, Florida and Edith Blake Schwan, and her husband, Michael of Nokomis, Florida; a sister, Anne Van Schaack, of Mount Dora, Florida who has three children, Jeff, Lauren and Marti; three grandchildren, Amber (Matt), Santana and Blake; and four great-grandchildren, Sidney, Stetson, Braxton & Alexander. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Tavares on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2:30 PM.
